First Steps to Healing and Finding Joyful Balance

Hi Everyone!
Thank you so much for reading my first blog! I'm just setting up this website and I wanted to add a quick post on the three most important things to consider when attempting to regenerate and heal yourself physically and emotionally: sleep, nutrition and detoxification.
The first is sleep and rest. Sleep allows your body to go into healing mode which is why it's so important to have eight hours of complete rest everyday. Set this as your top priority even though life can challenge us with time, lack of proper restorative sleep will tax your body more than anything else. During sleep we need to reach all deep brain wave states in order to reap the full benefits of complete regenerative rest. I know several techniques to help with this if you find yourself struggling in this area.
The second, proper nutrition is where many of us fall short. Most of us live in a time pressured life style and good food is not a priority. Food is our body's fuel! If you are feeling tired all the time, have digestive issues, etc. then it's time to rethink how to fuel your body. It's also imperitive for us to attempt to eat as cleanly as possible because when our food contains chemicals, our bodies also have to digest and process these, which is like doing work without being paid since the chemicals have no reciprocal value to us. Try your best to eat organic, non-GMO and minimumly processed foods. In today's society we have many different digestive issues caused from highly processed, chemically laden "foods". Basically, if you can, do your best to eat foods the way they were originally created/evolved, no toxins, no genetic modifications, not artificially ripened, etc. you will digest and get the benefits our bodies were designed to receive. If you eat meat, it should be humanly treated, raised in the environments where the animal would naturally live in (open range) and eat natural grasses, not corn or soy so the animals are healthy as well. There is quite a debate over grains, etc. nowadays and I can discuss my experiences in a later blog on that subject. Also, good fats are your friends, not your enemies, sugar is your enemy as bacteria feeds on sugar as well as inflammation is increased by sugar. My best advice is listen to your body, be aware of how it feels after you eat something, if you are reaching for an antacid or have any discomfort, that's your body telling you that you are consuming something that it's having trouble digesting. It's time to reconsider things, we are a society that reaches quickly to ease a symptom, but don't want to look at the source of the symptom.
The third, detoxification is important because if toxins are not released from our body, the body gets overwhelmed and cells do not turnover properly which can lead to a variety of health complications and ailments. There are many ways to help the body to detoxify and it doesn't have to be strong uncomfortable cleanses. Just limiting the toxins around you is one of the easiest first steps and I have lots of easy ways to do this. I will discuss this in further posts.
